A Silly Mistake I Made

By Graham Smith

Yes you read the title right. I made a mistake and I don’t mind admitting it.

‘What mistake?’ I hear you ask.

The mistake is quite an obvious one which is all over the cover of my latest eBook. No it’s not the blurbs, or a typo on the cover. It actually is more obtuse than such a simple thing. In fact it’s only something someone as pedantic as me would pick up on yet it reverberates throughout the novel and grates me every time I think of it. (I’m typing this up with clenched teeth)

The mistake is to do with the title of the book and the cover image. When I engaged my graphic designer friend to make the cover I asked for a shotgun to feature. He did his usual excellent job of designing a cover which fits my brand and I was chuffed to pieces.

It was only after I had signed off on the work and had started with pre launch publicity that I realised the error. The title is Gutshots: Ten Blows to the Abdomen, yet the cover image shows the shotgun broken over to reveal two 12 gauge cartridges.  (The graphic designer has even rotated them from the original image so they were the right way up such is his attention to detail) Why oh why hadn’t I realised that Gutshots: TWELVE Blows to the Abdomen would have tied everything together much neater?

Still you live and learn eh?

Gutshots actually has fifteen stories in as I have included five free stories which have been published elsewhere. Grab yourself a copy and revel in my mistake It’s less than a pound after all and you get fifteen hard-hitting crime / noir stories which will tickle your fancy or fancy your tickle.
